What’s An Example Of A Stupid (read: Trendy) Baby Name?
Three that come in mind are Landon, Tristan (for boys) and Nevaeh (for girls). Oh, and basically any name that originates from a car or an alcoholic beverage, with the exception of Mercedes.
But I don’t hate all modern baby names. I think Madison is cool and I met a couple who had a little girl named Hamilton.
I’ve never liked the names that sound unisex just different spellings…Taylor, Brooke, Jamison, Cameron…anything that sounds like an Ambercrombie and Fitch model is a no-no to me…
Madison,Addison,Bailey,Taylor,Riley,
Carter,Peyton,Logan,MacKenzie,
McKenna,ALL last names as girls’ names.
All the “Mad” names,Madeline,Madelynn,Maddie.
Ghetto/trailer-park/stripper names like Destiny,Trinity,Neveah,Precious,
Blessing,Princess,Haven,Harlow,etc.
Old-frumpy-hick names like Mae,Rae,Pearl,Louise,Belle,Emma,etc.
Anything ending in -lyn,Kaitlyn,Raelyn,
Braelyn,Jaelyn,Adilyn,etc.
Aiden,Brayden,Jayden,Caden,Austin,
Hunter,Zack,Ethan,and Ryder for boys.
I think all the -aden names are really tacky, except for Aidan and Hayden, because they both have actual history as a name. I don’t like Braeden, Caden, Kaydin, Jayden, Zaidyn, etc. Plus all the irritating kre8tive spelling is stupid. All of the names, including Aidan (and all variants: Aden, Aydyn, Aadin, etc.) and Hayden are so overused though, and I wish people would be a little different and choose something else for their child. What’s wrong with a baby Calvin or Phillip?
For girls, I also dislike the Nevaeh trend. Especially when parents change the spelling. It completely nullifies the purpose of the name! Nivayah? Naveia? No thanks, I didn’t know you go to Hayavin or Aievan when you die. I also don’t like most of the boy names used on girls. Some are okay, usually they are surnames, like Avery, Finley, or Parker. Those are alright. But it bugs me when a parent uses a name like Noah, Evan, or Micah on a little girl. Those names are clearly masculine.
